Davy Crockett

Page history last edited by Davy Crockett 13 years, 7 months ago

[1]Davy Crockett was a five part TV series that was introduced by Disney in 1954 as a kids show. It was aired on Christmas day, 1954 and was an instant hit.  [2]. The show was showed on ABC and still remains one of TV's great phenomenas. In the show, Davy would go on many adventures helping people, and fighting for the common good. He was a popular figure among children and was a funny and nice character. This show was run by Disney which was founded by Walt Disney, who was born in Marcelline, Missouri in 1901. Part of the TV shows major success was related to merchandise. The new fad among children were coonskin hats and Davy Crockett bubblegum cards. After the shows great success the Disney network hurried in two prequels. They also brought in more characters to make the show better.

One reason why Davy Crockett was so important was because he revolutionised TV, which was the major craze in the fifties onwards. People would gather in their living rooms as a family just to watch his show. His character represented the freedom of the USA.[3]His show became very popular and was a huge musical attraction.

I think that you did a great job on the wiki page! Have you ever watched one of the movies? My dad says that Davy Crockett was his favorite character when he was a kid and got one of those coonskin hats like Davy. I like how you included all the information about the reaction the US had toward this famous film. Good job!

As in response to your question, I have not ever seen one of the episodes but my parents also were big fans of the TV show when it was popular.
