Eichmann

Page history last edited by Eichman 13 years, 7 months ago

Background

Adolf Eichmann was born in Solingen, Germany in 1906, and was a very unsuccessful business man. In 1934 he joined Himmler's secret service, but no one knew what he would turn into...

Adolf Eichmann was a Nazi during WW II. He was a lieutenant colonel in the Nazi Secret Police, also called the Gestapo. He was in charge of the "Final Solution" operation of the Nazi party.[1] "Final Solution" was the plan executed to end European Jewry. Basically, operation "Final Solution" was the Nazi's way of making the Holocaust sound good. Six million Jews died because of Adolf Eichmann's wonderful, heavenly plan. Hitler and Himmler agreed with Eichmann that his plan of forced emigration and labor camps was the best way to get rid of the Jews. After WW II he left Germany and escaped to Argentina and lived there under an assumed name. He lived there for almost 15 years. In 1960, he was seized by the Israeli Secret Service and taken to Israel to be put on trial. On May 31, 1962 Adolf Eichmann was hung in Israel for his part in the extermination of 6 million Jews.

Significance

Eichmann had a very large impact on WW II, the Jewish society, and the views of prejudices everywhere. Becuase of the Holocaust, the world looked upon the Nazi party as a violent, wrong society. The world acted upon it and stopped it before more Jews were oppressed. Unfortunately, they couldn't save the 6 million Jews that were killed. Adolf Eichmann was a key part of the Holocaust. He pretty much was the man who planned it. Hitler was the idealist, but Eichmann pulled out the ideas for the concentration camps and rounding up of the Jewish population. He wanted the extermination of European Jewry and the world should be glad that he is dead. Most people don't realize his significance in history. Without his planning, there would be 6 million more innocent people left in the would.

I found it interesting that he was only found after 15 years! That seems like a long time! Do you know what else he did besides change his name while he was in Argentina so he wouldn't get caught?

I always thought concetration camps were Hitler's idea. It is fascinating how Hitler lets all of his people do all his dirty work. Eichmann was a example of being a servant of Hitler. Do you know if he got any speacial treatment of gifts from Hitler because of his idea?
