television

                                                                   Backround

The television was fisrt made in 1928 when John Logie Baird when he used a Nipkow disk to brodcast or send televison pictures from London England to New York City. Other invertors found different ways to send television images. in 1923 Vladimir Zworykin [1] ( VLA-duh-mihr ZWAR-ih-kuhn) invented the first sucessful television camera tube  an early model of a television  picture tube. a television picture tube allowed people to see the images more clearly! in 1927 Philo Farnsworth  an eletronic television. In the beginning the only people who owned televisions were scientists and people with LOTS of money![2] Some times many stores would put televisions in there windows. People would gather on the sidewalk to walk all the latest television programs. After WW2 the use of television grew very quickly . Many of the first  television programs were broadcast live, and all of them were seen in black and white only. The most popular programs were comedy shows, westerns, variety shows and game shows! The first television made were about 3 times bigger then your average telvesion today! They were very large but the screens were very small. In the 1950's television technology was made better. Television signals got stronger, came in clearer, and the screens were made larger. in 1954, television programs could be seen in color!

The invention of television changed the way people lived. People were able to get entertainment quickly by viewing a television program. in 1939 regular progams were brodcasted through out the United States, in England 1936, Russia 1939, in France 1948, in Brazil 1950 and so on. How the television was used back then was not how we use it at all theses days! Back then the whole family would gather around the t.v. a night and watch a new program![3] Now a days when were bored we sit down and watch whatever is on! the growth of television let people around the see important events as they were happening. During the 1960's people watched news about the Civil Rights movement and the Vietnam War. Sometimes, the way people though and acted were changed by what they saw on television. People got to see things like Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy speak about why they wanted to be president, and on July 20th, 1969 720 million people got to watch Neil Armstrong walk on the moon!

This article was very intresting, I never really knew who invented the telivision. We really don't think about what had to happen to invent something the we use so often and now we can acctually take the time to learn about these things.

I found this article especially interesting because I never knew how much people loved television. Nowadays, I think people dismiss television as part of everyday life, but this was obviously a different story. Also, this person was very detailed in his or her description and reflection.
