Cola Wars
Coke vs. Pepsi
The cola wars was between Pepsi-Cola and Coca-Cola. The first founder of Coca-cola was created in 1886 by John Smith Pemberton. Followed by Pepsi-Cola when it was created by Caleb Bradham in 1898. Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola became fighting for the title of the best soft drink in the world. Coke soon became the biggest producer of beverages outplaying Pepsi by far.Soon the red and white stripe of coke became the most recognized logo in all of the world. Coke then became a big sponsor of the Olympic which boosted their popularity and they showed how they can support he olympics because they are that important. Pepsi started to challenge Coke for the title of the best soft drink and this sparked the Cola wars.
Even though Coke was gaining popularity Pepsi was slowly gaining on them and soon they were popular enough to pose as a threat to Coke. When World War 2 started Coke supplied the U.S. army to advertise that they were the nicest beverage in the world. Pepsi in a ditch effort to increase their gain on Coke they decided to sell their 12oz bottles at the same price of Coke's 6oz bottles. With this "challenge" coke had to come back and do something to outdo Pepsi's move. In 1985 coke changed their formula and decided to call the creation New Coke. The New Coke worked in the north where people accepted the new coke and liked its taste. But in the south there was major outrage. The southern people hated the New Coke and wanted the old coke back. It got so bad that people were pouring coke out of the bottle into the streets, storehandlers who carried the new coke were beat up, and people sent letters to the Coke company saying how bad the taste of the new coke was. Coke soon took New coke off the shelves. It had only been on the shelves for three months. Then in 1902 coke brought back New coke but as Coke 2. People couldn't tell the difference and Coke 2 was accepted by the public. When new coke failed Pepsi named itself the winner of the cola challenge. They said that coke tried to keep up with them and ultimatley failed, and coke couldn't couldn't come up with a vald excuse so pepsi continued on their rampage of how they had beaten coke at their own game.

Both of these pictures are rival advertisments for you to buy coke over pepsi or pepsi over coke.

I find it really interesting that coke's new formula back in 1985 was hated by the south, yet the north didn't care. Also, i find it really wierd that the southern people would beat up those who sold the coke. Why was the new coke so bad? Nice wiki, it has lots of info.

your artice was very good, and fun to read. I really liked how each of them were trying to come up with things to beat eachother. Why was the new coke so bad anyway?

Nice wiki. I find it hilarious now how people take the tests on who has the better cola. When the people see the can and drink it they say pepsi but if they are blind folded they say coke. Sounds like a lot of biased opinions to me. And good job again i learned a lot from this slide.

the thing that i found most interesting was that this "war" has been going on for about a century. you did a nice job laying out all the facts on this topic and the pictures are really cool.
