Dacron is a Polyethylene terephthalate which is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family and is used in synthetic fibers; beverage, and other food and other liquid containers; thermoforming applications; and engineering resins often in combination with glass fibers. Polyethylene terephthlatate is an extremely versatile thermoplastic made by condensations reactions. Intially used for the production of synthetic textile fibre for clothing. In 1954 fiber v was later to be patented and renamed Dacron. It was hailed as a new wonder fabric to the world. The creator of Dacron is Dr Wallace Hume Carothers he led the research into basic organic chemistry. By 1930 he had synthesized the first polyester superpolmer. Then led to the invention of nylon.^[1]

             You may be wondering what is Dacron and whats its use? It is used for many things such as curtains, dress fabrics, high-pressure fire hoses, men's shirts, and thread. The staple fiber is ideal for mixing with wool in men's and women's suits, as well as in dress fabrics, knitted wear, and washable woven sportswear. It's used on these things becauseit has high tensile strength, high resistance to stretching, both wet and dry, and good resistance to degradation by chemical bleaches and to abrasion.^[2]
