Iosif Vissarionovich Djugashvili, known as Joseph Stalin to us, was a dictator for the Soviet Union from 1929 to 1953. He grew up a poor boy with a a father who treated him unfairly. But, he was very smart and recieved a scholarship to a religious seminary. when he was a t this school, he became interested in Karl Marx and Marxism. He immediately joined a secret Marxist revolutionary group in 1898 when he was expelled from the religious seminary for missing a test date. In 1900, he became an active revolutionist and held a protest against working condition. Ove the nest few years he held protests and strikes. He even started a secret perss for those who disagreed with the Czar's actions. but, Czar Nicholas the II eventually jailed Joseph Stalin for his actions. Up until 1917, he was either jailed or in exile. But, during this time he was being connected to the Bolsheviks and Lenin. He was brought into the governing party with the Bolsheviks and even wrote an article with the help of Lenin.
