    BACKROUND:

The first time we heard the name Wheel of Fortune on television it was not the Wheel of Fortune we all loved today. It started in October 1952, and ran for about a year. To be able to play you had to have done a good deed. A wheel was spun with amounts going from 30 to 1,000.  There also was a riddle or a name of something. So Whatever the wheel landed on that was what you played for. You had to get the questions right to get the money the wheel landed on. The next time we saw  Wheel of Fortune was in 1975 The host was Chuck Wooley and his co-host Susan Stafford. However after a arugument with Chuck's and Susan's contracts they left the show. They were in need of a 2 more host, so they found Pat Sajak and Vanna White. The show has been running since January 19, 1976 and running since then for a hour long on NBC.
